Probably similar to intersections like this in the US. It's my understanding that if you're on the stripes when the light changes you can be ticketed.

Yesterday a B train (double trailered semi) driven by a moron turned left when there was no room and blocked the whole intersection. Right in front of a cop. The cop did nothing, whom I was behind. What a lazy prick.
